Sometimes doing nothing is doing a lot!
We live busy lives, and are constantly running around, executing our daily routines, working tirelessly on our Weekly To-do lists and short-term-long-term personal / professional goals, putting out fires show up as emergencies and crises, and what not. We hardly ever stop to 'just be', or just breathe consciously! We hardly every consciously slow the pace down.
Once in a while, we need to cut ourselves some slack, and allow ourselves to rest, rejuvenate, and recharge our body, mind and soul; probably on a weekend, and then pick up the pace or slack, over the coming week.
'Doing absolutely nothing' does not need to be elaborate vacations or even day outings. It just means taking a little time-out to help us readjust, realign, regroup our thoughts, our energy, a simple way to bring our being in a state of balance. This is not the same as Me-Time, cause Me-Times can be elaborate ways of pampering ourselves.
I love to take such time outs, for myself. I do things that make me happy or lift me up, raise my energy or vibe - lighting incense, putting on music, singing/playing a song, watching a lively video, reading an excerpt from a favourite book, sometimes, closing my eyes and imaging chilling at a beach, or sometimes, just taking a nap. Whatever, my heart needs in that moment, to feel good, and bring my energy back.
Not everyone can sit still, doing absolutely nothing! Some struggle with this idea. Some are visibly uncomfortable and restless, if they are not constantly doing something or being productive, or having company with them.
Well, in such case, doing absolutely nothing, need not be an overwhelming 'absolutely nothing'. Perhaps, it could mean to indulge in things that help you relax, feel good, and probably contributes to the side that needs to also be productive, and feel validated. There are no hard rules as to how one should spend their 'just being' time, as long as we are enjoying those moments.
SoulNotes to Self: Happiness is...sometimes, doing absolutely nothing!
Sometimes...
...I love doing nothing!
...I love just being!
...I love spending time with myself and also with others. It helps me introspect and be aware of my perceptions, and it also gives me insight into the perceptions of others.
...I love to have a life-work balance!
...If it is not practical for me to go to my favourite place, I just close my eyes and fantasize being there. Even fantasies can be amazing feel good tools.
Do take some time out, for some 'just be' time! Be creative and customise your 'just-be' time to suit you.
Love, from my soul to yours!
Soulful
